Have you ever had smoked deviled eggs? Let me tell you it is a game changer. And with the ease of use of Pellet Smokers, it is so easy to add smoke flavor to just about anything: ie, smoked deviled eggs!
To make a smoked deviled egg, you do everything you would normally do to make deviled eggs, with the addition of smoking your hard boiled eggs before you go to make the yolk mixture that goes into the eggs.
To make this smoked deviled egg recipe, you can use any smoker, but I used my Green Mountain Grill Pellet Smoker because I just wanted to add a touch of quick smoke without the fuss of having to use a chimney starter on my Big Green Egg.
Even if you don’t have a smoker, you can easily make this smoked deviled egg recipe in your kitchen or on your gas grill with the use of either a smoking gun (which can be used in doors) or a smoker tube (can be used on your gas grill).
The smoking gun makes it easy to add smoke flavor to just about anything- cocktails, soups, casseroles. If you are as obsessed with smoke flavor and how it can amplify dishes, then this is a really cool gadget to have. You can see I used it in in my Smoked Old Fashioned Recipe.
The smoker tube is an ingenious invention and makes it super easy to add smoke flavor on a gas grill. I have even used this on my pellet smoker to ensure I get more smoke flavor when I made my own smoked sea salts to give away as gifts for the holidays.
Now, all you need is the right gadget or a smoker and you can add smoke flavor to any deviled egg recipe you choose.
My go to deviled egg recipe is my jalepeno bacon deviled eggs recipe, but lately I’ve been a bit obsessed with buffalo sauce and blue cheese together on ALL THE THINGS, so I made these as buffalo blue cheese deviled eggs. SO GOOD! All you need is a good buffalo sauce and high quality blue cheese and you can make buffalo deviled eggs. I make a Florida Orange version of buffalo sauce using my Sunshine State of Mind Craft BBQ Rub that adds a touch of sweetness and lime to the sauce while cutting the spiciness. So good!

Description
Adding smoke flavor to your average deviled egg makes them go from ordinary to extraordinary in the blink of an eye! Even if you don't have a smoker, you can easily make this smoked deviled egg recipe with a few easy to source gadgets.
Ingredients
- 12 large eggs
- 1/4 cup mayo (I use mayo with no seed oils such as Kensingtons or Better Body Foods)
- 1 tbsp dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp dill relish
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- smoked paprika- just a pinch for sprinkling over the eggs at the finish line
To make my jalapeno bacon deviled eggs, you will need in addition:
- 3 slices nitrate free bacon
- 2 jalapenos, deseeded and thinly sliced
To Make Buffalo Deviled Eggs, you will need:
Buffalo Sauce (my go to version is my Florida Orange Buffalo sauce (ingredients below). Simply melt the butter on the stove and combine with the other two ingredients.
- 1 stick butter
- 1/3 cup Frank’s Red Hot Sauce
- 3 tbsp of my Sunshine State of Mind Rub
plus
- 8 oz of high quality blue cheese, crumbled.
- Chopped green onion, for garnish
After making the deviled eggs, drizzle with buffalo sauce and add blue cheese. Chopped green onions make for a nice garnish to contrast the orange. You can also add in a few tsp of the buffalo sauce to the deviled egg yolk mixture. SO YUM!
Instructions
Bring your eggs to a low boil and then turn the burner off and let sit for another 10 minutes. Rinse in cold water, then crack and peel under the faucet as the water is running over them (this helps get the shell off).
Next, slice the eggs in half and remove the yolk. Mix the yolk, mayo, relish, mustard, salt and pepper together with a fork until uniform in consistency. Put the mixture in a big ziplock bag and then cut the corner off to create a “pastry bag” so you can pipe the mixture into the yolks easily. Next, add a small piece of bacon to each egg, and then a slice of jalapeno.
