Well, this is not so much a “recipe” post I suppose as it is an idea and technique. I’ve never grilled ham steaks before and it was amazingly simple, inexpensive and surprisingly tasty! My husband, the eternal ham hater (I’m not
sure what his “beef” is with ham LOL) was skeptical at first and then said, “wow, I was pleasantly surprised” after he went back for seconds and cleaned his plate.

So, as you are gearing up for Easter- think outside of the proverbial box- and by box I mean the oven. Grill that HAM! I purchased a pack of “ham steaks” that were pre sliced and ready to go. All I had to do was pair them with Mustard BBQ sauce (sounds sexier to call it a glaze doesn’t it?) and grilled them up to hammy perfection.

Ham goes from ordinary to extraordinary when cooked on the grill!

Ingredients:

  • 3 ham steaks
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 bottle Mustard BBQ sauce (I used sticky fingers)

Directions:

Preheat grill to 350 degrees creating a direct heat zone. Baste the ham steaks with the sauce and then grill for for 4 minutes per side (or until nice char marks have formed) – grilling a total of 8 minutes of until internal temp has reached 140 degrees.

Serve with additional sauce and prepare to be amazed at how good ordinary ham is when cooked over an open fire!
