Cowboy Charcoal thinks it knows what ladies want- DIAMONDS! (Duh, of course we do!). But seriously, Cowboy Charcoal is hosting the first “Fire and Ice Women’s Championship Barbecue Series” to celebrate women competitors across the US. And the Grand Champion receives $5000 in diamond jewelry! (!!)
Cowboy Charcoal has teamed up with the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) to offer the Fire and Ice Series for the 2016 BBQ Season. This means that any KCBS Registered team led by a Female Pitmaster is eligible to participate in the Series.
All points earned in KCBS Team contests from 1/1/16 through the American Royal will count toward the Fire & Ice Points chase. This means all those KCBS entries judged on taste, appearance, and texture in chicken, ribs, pork and brisket will add up to points to be eligible for the contest.
The top (5) teams at the end of American Royal Weekend will be granted a Golden Ticket and a travel stipend to attend the Wold Food Championships in Orange Beach, Alabama on November 9-13th, where they will face off in two contests.
Day 1: Teams will compete in a short, 2 hour Fire & Ice Grilling challenge in which teams can grill ANY food (ie, “Griller’s Choice) using Cowboy Lump Charcoal as the heat source. (This is judged by a panel using the WFC’s E.A.T. methodology).
Day 2: Teams will compete at the World Barbecue Championship using the standard KCBS sanctioned rules / procedures.
