People often ask me where they can get good BBQ in South Florida and I tell them “my backyard”. But seriously, outside of my backyard, the best place to get some good ‘”cue” is going to be at AIWF’s BBQ Battle. This is a BBQ competition put on by the South Florida chapter of the American Institute of Wine and Food. But this is not just any BBQ competition- this comp pairs all the South Florida culinary schools against each other.
I’m lucky to be a judge at this event, getting to taste the sumptuous entries from the likes of South Fla’s culinary schools including: FIU, Le Cordon Bleu, Johnson and Wales, Miami Culinary Institute, The Art Institute and Lincoln Art Institute. Local restaurants will also be giving samples – tickets are $60 and go to AIWF’s culinary scholarships that help more students go to culinary school!
I hope to see you there! Let’s find out why FIU has won 4 years in a row!
Details: Sunday- January 27th, 2013; 5-8pm. The event will be held on the River Front at Esplanade Park- 400 SW 2nd Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312.
