What is a “Homegate”? one might ask. A homegate, quite literally, is tailgating at home. And no one can deny that tailgating in the comfort of your own home and Coyote Outdoor kitchen is a far superior experience to slugging all your gear to a parking lot.
In this latest episode of “Cooking with Coyote” I had the pleasure of grilling with America’s most well-known Bachelor (he did star on The Bachelor after all) in his newly finished Coyote Outdoor Kitchen. As a design buff, I was super excited to see how how Tyler put together his outdoor kitchen after watching his home renovation show “Coming Home with Tyler Cameron”. After renovating and building a few outdoor kitchens myself, I am always giddy with excitement to see design projects come together.
Let’s first start off by saying, there is no homegating without a grill. Tyler’s outdoor kitchen came together with the Coyote Pellet Grill, the Asado Grill, the Flattop grill and the eyecandy you spot when you first walk onto Tyler’s patio, the new Coyote Pizza Oven.
My homegating menu consisted of elevated, yet simple enough to make for a crowd, recipes that can easily be replicated at home.
No tailgate is complete without a cold beverage in hand, and I showed Tyler how to make a jalapeno margarita recipe in honor of his late mother who loved jalapeno margaritas, but with a smoky twist.
This fire roasted jalapeno margarita recipe is a sophisticated margarita recipe that adds smoky depth of flavor to your classic jalapeno margarita by first grilling the jalapeno and limes on the Coyote Asado. In this version, I make it a bit more “extra” by first infusing the tequila with pineapple for a tropical, Florida inspired twist, finished with my Sunshine State of Mind Craft BBQ Rub as a cocktail rimmer. This recipe gives the “craft cocktail at home experience” with layers of flavor infused at every step, perfect for an elevated homegating experience. And, if you love grilled cocktails, make sure to check out my smoked cocktails page for additional inspiration like my super popular smoked old fashioned recipe!
Potato skins are classic tailgating fare, but why fry when you can griddle? In this version made on the Coyote Flattop grill, potatoes are boiled and griddled for maximum crispy edges, and then finished with copious amounts of cheese and bacon and finished with a Sriracha ranch sour cream for an MVP homegating experience.
And for the grand finale, let’s all agree that no tailgate or homegate is complete without some kind of burger or slider. This Hawaiian burger recipe, renamed the Jupiter Burger in tribute to Tyler’s home town of Jupiter, Florida, may just be the most binge worthy burger you’ve had in a long time. Layering juicy smoke infused cheese burgers with grilled pineapple, teriyaki mayo and bacon jam equates to one heckuva burger! Just ask Tyler who ate 2 in once sitting! You can easily make Jupiter burgers at home with this easy Hawaiian Burger recipe.
Remember, the best part of homegating is making it your own. In our “Cooking with Coyote Episode”, you can see that I put Florida touches on our tailgating fare. You can easily do this at home with these recipes by adding local flair! Get creative by adding fun touches like color coordinating ingredients with your favorite team color, and putting a team inspired spin on your tailgating fare, just like I did with these “Jupiter burgers”.
