If you are looking for my thoughts on the Coyote Pellet Grill, well, here is my official Coyote Pellet Grill review!
Grills and smokers come in all shapes and sizes with specific functions. If you love to grill and smoke meat, you could easily amass a litany of grills and smokers in your backyard, each dedicated to s specific function. But who has the budget, space, and time to maintain that many grills and smokers in their backyard? As someone who has tested countless of grills over the years, I can tell you that grills that don’t multitask and allow me to do more than one thing quickly get moved to grill storage, aka, where grills go to die in my backyard.
Any grill that occupies the much coveted prime time space in my backyard needs to do ALL THE THINGS: grill, smoke, bake and sear. And that is why I’m super excited to discover the Coyote Pellet Grill.
Historically, grills and smokers fueled by pellets had a very specific limitation: they couldn’t get to temps above 500 degrees. This means that owning a pellet “smoker” meant you still needed to own another grill for searing steaks or any kind of higher heat grilling. But with the introduction of the Coyote Grill, which is truly a grill AND smoker, I can now do all the things in one grill that I previously needed multiple grills to accomplish.
With the Coyote Pellet Grill I can GRILL, SMOKE, BAKE and SEAR, all from one sexy looking grill in my backyard that I’m not ashamed to put on full display. Because this Pellet Grill does not look like the traditional, UGLY looking pellet smoker. No, the Coyote Pellet Grill is a sleek-looking stainless steel grill with great lines, built-in storage, and a fully color touchscreen user interface that I’m proud to show off in my backyard. This is a stark contrast to pellet “smokers” of old, the ones I’d be quick to put a cover on as I always felt they were the ugliest of all the grills that took up space in my backyard.
The Coyote is the sexy-looking Swiss army knife of grills, that eliminates the need to buy multiple grills, and looks good while performing all the functions I need in a grill and smoker.
Let’s dig into how the Coyote Pellet Grill can grill, smoke, sear and bake:
GRILL: The Coyote functions as an all-purpose grill with temp ranges from 150-700. You can grill anything and everything by simply telling the grill what temp you would like to cook, much like an oven. I like to grill at the range of 350-450 but this is a matter of preference for each user. When selecting your temp, the grill will automatically tell you what “range” you are in based on the temp that is selected, ie: smoke, grill, or sear.
SMOKE: Most Pellet Grills are known for their “Smoking Capabilities” as pellets perfume whatever you cook with wood-infused smoke, and the Coyote makes this easy – all you need to do is set your preferred temp and it does the rest. While most Pellet smokers put their pellet hopper on the side of the grill, the Coyote has placed theirs hidden in the front in a drawer in the front that blends in with the grill, which makes the Coyote look much more like a sexy stainless grill, without the traditionally clunky features attributed to pellet “smokers”. When you select your temp on the color touch-screen user interface, it will tell you if you are in smoke versus grill mode based on the temperature you have selected.
SEAR: The beautiful thing about the Coyote, unlike any other Pellet Grills I know of in the market, is that it can get to temps of 700 degrees allowing it to perfectly sear a steak (or any protein). This is a game changer in the world of pellet grills and truly makes the Coyote the Swiss army of grills because now, in one grill, you can do what previously took at least two grills to accomplish because this technology is not available in other pellet (smokers) on the market.
BAKE: Desserts and baked goods all benefit from wood smoke flavor- think of your Pellet Grill like a wood-fired outdoor oven that can infuse anything with smoke flavor while offering the simplicity of an oven. I love baking cobblers, casseroles, and even pizzas on my Coyote Pellet Grill.
Have fun with your Pellet Grill and don’t limit yourself by thinking it is only a “grill”- the wonderful thing about the Coyote is that it can do everything your oven can do, with the benefit of grilling and smoking capabilities.
Once you change your mindset on grilling with the Coyote Pellet Grill, it will become the veritable workhouse in your backyard it was meant to be. Let the Coyote Pellet Grill empower you to become the outdoor Host or Hostess you always knew you could be!
This post was made in partnership with my friends at Coyote. I only work with brands I personally use and endorse!
I like that the Coyote has a lid gasket, which helps seal in heat and recover the grill back to set temperature faster. Not sure I’ve seen a pellet grill that has this feature. Looks like a quality cooker for sure, with great attention to detail.
Jim, this is definitely the highest quality Pellet Smoker I’ve had the pleasure of cooking on so far. The touchscreen User Interface, the higher grade steel, the front loading pellet drawer, and the sexy design that make it look like a high end gas grill versus the traditional pellet smoker all make it a winner in my book. It is definitely a great investment for anyone looking for a grill built to last, and their customer services has been awesome so far. I think the main people don’t realize is that with any pellet smoker, there will come a time when you will need a part replacement because all pellet grills have a lot of moving parts. And working with a company that has good customer service is KEY! You cannot get that at any brand purchase at a big box store.
