I’m a firm believer that summertime is perfect for pies, but fall time is the best for cobbler. This recipe is such a great twist on a traditional cobbler, you’ll have to make it yourself to believe it. The secret recipe is the barbecue sauce. Really makes a taste you just can’t beat.

Ingredients
Filling:
- 8 granny smith apples
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup Hickory Bourbon Bar-B-Q Sauce
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon corn starch
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon coriander
- ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
- Juice of ½ lemon
- ⅛ teaspoon lemon zest
- ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping:
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup softened butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°.
- Peel, core, and cut all apples into ½” wedges. Mix together all filling ingredients and fold into apples. Pour apple mixture into a 9×13 baking dish. Mix together all of the ingredients for the topping until all the butter is thoroughly incorporated. After placing apple mixture in the dish, sprinkle crumb topping on top to cover.
- Place cobbler in the oven, and turn up heat to 425°. Cook for 15 minutes then reduce heat to 375°. Cook for 35 minutes after turning down the heat. Remove from oven and let cool for 20 minutes before serving. Spoon generous helpings into a bowl and top with your favorite ice cream.

Awesome. But imagine my disappointment upon discovering that there wasn’t actually bourbon in this dessert.
I can’t wait to try this recipe. I’m down for trying any unexpected ingredient in my dessert!
Sounds Yummy! Can’t wait to try it!
Yum! I’ve never had cobbler with BBQ sauce in it before but it looks really good. I’ve seen a bunch of recipes referencing Stubbs, but I haven’t had it before. Sounds good!
I just added this to my Facebook page too, to help spread the word.
