Smoked Deviled Egg Recipe

  • Author: Robyn

Description

Adding smoke flavor to your average deviled egg makes them go from ordinary to extraordinary in the blink of an eye! Even if you don’t have a smoker, you can easily make this smoked deviled egg recipe with a few easy to source gadgets.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup mayo (I use mayo with no seed oils such as Kensingtons or Better Body Foods)
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp dill relish
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • smoked paprika- just a pinch for sprinkling over the eggs at the finish line

To make my jalapeno bacon deviled eggs, you will need in addition:

  • 3 slices nitrate free bacon
  • 2 jalapenos, deseeded and thinly sliced

To Make Buffalo Deviled Eggs, you will need:

Buffalo Sauce (my go to version is my Florida Orange Buffalo sauce (ingredients below). Simply melt the butter on the stove and combine with the other two ingredients.

plus

  • 8 oz of high quality blue cheese, crumbled.
  • Chopped green onion, for garnish

After making the deviled eggs, drizzle with buffalo sauce and add blue cheese. Chopped green onions make for a nice garnish to contrast the orange. You can also add in a few tsp of the buffalo sauce to the deviled egg yolk mixture. SO YUM!

Instructions

INSTRUCTIONS

Bring your eggs to a low boil and then turn the burner off and let sit for another 10 minutes. Rinse in cold water, then crack and peel under the faucet as the water is running over them (this helps get the shell off).

Next, slice the eggs in half and remove the yolk. Mix the yolk, mayo, relish, mustard, salt and pepper together with a fork until uniform in consistency. Put the mixture in a big ziplock bag and then cut the corner off to create a “pastry bag” so you can pipe the mixture into the yolks easily. Next, add a small piece of bacon to each egg, and then a slice of jalapeno.
