I know I surprise you all a bit when I make something in my oven. I could have made these on the grill but I just got a new Wolfe stove that is begging for my attention. And while I try so hard to be good and limit my carbs, sometimes I have a backlash and have a big carb fest and just get it out of my system. And these bacon biscuits with molasses really satisfied my craving. They were super easy to make too- I used Bisquick (the Heart Healthy kind) and paired it with the addition of cooked bacon and a little smoked sea salt, smoked pepper and a dash of smoked paprika to help the accentuate the salty paired with sweet combo. Add molasses and you have yourself a real treat that would be a great addition to breakfast, brunch or even a party or bridal/baby shower. Everyone loves biscuits and bacon!

I'm going to go ahead and apologize to my Grandma Silvia who made drop biscuits from Scratch almost everyday of her life. That is an art I never mastered and I hope she is not looking down on me from Heaven in shame! 🙂

Bacon Biscuits with Molasses

  • Author: Robyn
  • Yield: approx. 5 biscuits

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups Bisquick Mix
  • 1/2 cup low fat or skim milk
  • 4 strips cooked bacon
  • 1 teaspoon smoked sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon cracked plack pepper
  • 1 dash smoked paprika

    For Serving:

Addition 6-8 slices of cooked bacon
Molasses- enough for 5 biscuits to be smothered and covered!

Instructions

Heat oven to 450. Stir biscuit ingredients until a soft dough forms. Place on a surface generously sprinkled with more Bisquick so it does not stick and knead 8-10 times. Next, roll the dough out to 1/2″ thick and cut with a biscuit cutter or glass approx. 2 1/2″ diameter ( again, make sure glass has been dipped in the bisquick mix so it will not stick.)  Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 7-9 minutes until golden. Please note, the size of your biscuits (and what you used to cut them) will determine baking time so the smaller the biscuits, the faster they will cook.

To Serve: Slice the biscuits and layer 2-3 pieces of bacon on them. Add molasses for a sweet and salty treat that will satisfy your craving for some Southern Goodness!
