If you're a fan of charcoal grilling, then you're probably familiar with the struggle of getting the coals started. Fortunately, there's a nifty tool called a charcoal chimney that can help make the process a lot easier and safer.
A charcoal chimney is a simple device designed to ignite charcoal, eliminating the need to use lighter fluid. It's basically a metal cylinder with a handle, a grate at the bottom, and holes around the sides. To use it, you simply fill the top of the chimney with charcoal, place a few crumpled-up sheets of newspaper or other kindling in the bottom, and light the paper. The fire will quickly spread to the charcoal, which will start to glow and produce heat.
Once all the charcoal is burning, the chimney is lifted by its handle, making it super easy for you to pour the charcoal onto the grate of your grill. This is a huge game changer for many people, as lighter fluid can be dangerous and also impart unwanted flavors to your food.
While a charcoal grill can take a bit more time than a gas grill to get started, the end result is worth it. Everything you cook on a charcoal grill will have that delicious smoke flavor that just can't be replicated with gas.
