BBQ Pitmasters Season Premier Tonight: My Interview with Myron Mixon, Cookbook Giveaway, and The BBQ Pitmasters Drinking Game

myron mixon everyday barbecue

I chat with Myron Mixon about what’s new in Season 5 of BBQ Pitmasters. Plus, a giveaway of his newest cookbook Everday Barbecue.

Is everyone stoked to watch the season premier of BBQ Pitmasters Season 5 tonight? I got the chance to interview Myron and discuss what’s different about this season versus seasons in the past. He said there is a change to the judging line up where there will be a guest judge every season with a final judge being announced near the end of the season. I also asked him about tips for those getting into smoking and competition Q, what you can learn from his cooking school, current trends in the BBQ circuit, and how to cook wild boar (I figured he’d be the perfect person to ask!). The interview is embedded below:

To celebrate the season premier, I’m announcing a giveaway of Myron’s latest book- Everyday Barbecue. Please leave a comment on my blog and like my facebook page to be eligible to win. I’ll announce the winner this Wednesday, June 5th.

Last but not least, my friends Big Wayner from Big Wayner’s BBQ blog and Shane Draper have created a BBQ Pitmasters Drinking Game. If you would like to participate with us tonight, check out the rules on Wayne’s blog. Essentially, everytime Myron curses you take a drink so you know you’ll be tipsy by the end of the show!

Sometime Myron takes it over the top but that is what makes a character fun and wanting to watch them. He is continually building his tv personality which is great. Great interview by you and love the trends question.

But in the show smoked he did sauce with corn syrup, brown sugar and honey then added in a whole jar of jam. So why did he talked about being more savory but he showed the world on the show to do sweet glaze

That was a great interview with Myron. Shows that he is a great person and most of what you see on pitmasters is his tv personality. Good work Grrrl.

Pitmasters marathons are must-see TV for us. Myron is a riot, and we’ve read that his seminars in Unadilla are awesome. We’d love to add his cookbook to our shelf of gotta have it recipe/idea generators. (Robyn, you’re already on both of our FB’s.)
    Thanks for the opportunity!

Thanks John! I thought so too. I think his personality on tv is for “show”. :)
